About Me
Hi, I’m Tom Kramer, a -year-old student from Germany, currently doing an exchange
year in the U.S.
I like building practical projects with code and experimenting with how software and hardware work
together. My programming background is a mix of school and self-taught learning, and I enjoy exploring
what’s possible with relatively simple tools. I mainly work with Java and Python, and I also use HTML,
CSS, and basic JavaScript for web projects like this portfolio. I speak German and English.
A big part of my interest is running systems locally. I’m currently building a voice assistant using
Python and Ollama for summarization, designed to run entirely on a Raspberry Pi 5. I focus on small,
efficient models that respond instantly and can handle basic tasks. For the hardware side, I design and
print my own parts using Fusion and a 3D printer.
Right now, I’m mainly building tools and learning by doing. Next, I want to dive deeper into systems
programming and start learning Rust. When I’m not coding, I play badminton.
